Our Unique Approach To Lawn Care Benefits Your Entire Landscape

At Almstead, our approach to lawn care takes into account the health of your entire landscape by drawing on wisdom from both traditional and organic care methods. Our goal is to maintain a healthy balance between your turf and other landscaping. With this in mind, we offer three separate comprehensive lawn care programs: Organic Based, Pure Organic, and Traditional.

Organic Based Care

By utilizing natural soil supplements and organic fertilizers, the organic base program builds up the strength and health of your lawn naturally. This program also makes use of integrated treatments to keep pests and weeds in check. As your lawn becomes organically richer, these non-organic treatments can often be reduced over time. Organic Based care works both as a stand-alone program and as a gateway to Pure Organic lawn care.

Pure Organic Care

A healthy, thick lawn with a diversity of turf species protects itself naturally. The 100% organic fertilizers and treatments in this program help create biologically sound, hearty turf. This program also focuses on improving soil conditions with compost and other natural soil supplements.

Traditional Care

Our Traditional Care program enhances the lushness and beauty of your lawn by utilizing the highest quality conventional treatments available in the industry safely and effectively. A combination of fertilizers, soil supplements and weed controls make this a highly effective regimen to achieve a flawless looking lawn.

It is important to note that most problems in lawns do not start with the introduction of a pest or disease. Damage is more likely the result soil compaction and drainage issues, as well as improper practices such as over-watering, mowing too low, over-using fertilizers and pesticides, not aerating the soil, and even turf grass selection. Although our lawn care programs include a wide range of pest and disease controls, our focus is on creating self-sustaining turf that is healthy enough to fight off problems on its own.

Improving the soil is a key factor in achieving long-lasting results. Turf needs nutritionally balanced soil, with ample microbial life to achieve productive growth as well as protection against pests and diseases. An effective way to do this is through organic compost tea treatments. These teas are freshly brewed and sprayed directly on the turf.

In addition to soil amendments and fertilizers, another way to improve the environment is through core aeration. When soil becomes compacted it restricts the movement of oxygen, nutrients and water to the turf’s roots. This leads to slow growth as well as increased susceptibility to drought, disease, and insect damage. Core aeration allows air, water and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the soil.

No matter which of our programs you choose, we care for your turf from the roots up to create a more sustainable lawn that requires less reseeding and fewer applications to control insects, diseases and weeds. You’ll have a lawn that is thick and healthy that you can enjoy all year round.
